Xylocaine and Lidocaine are all related to Novacaine (synthetic cocaine w/o the deliterious effects). For our purposes they're probably interchangeable, but check dosage and frequency with your pharmacist or Doc.
Do a search (on this site's search engine) for lidocaine and a search for surgery. That's how I learned about the surgery aspect. See if Barb D. or some of the other surgery patients can give you some surgery info (sorry Barb for pitching your name in).
