I'm 55 and began getting them when I was about 33. I would get them every 2 years. They would occur 2-3 times a day and last for about 1 or 2 hours. The episodes would last about 3-4 weeks. I haven't had an episode since Sept'91 and I thought they were behind me. I was wrong, I began getting them again in mid-February. This recent bout is less severe than the ones I used to have and I've only been awakened once and only had to pace once, so far, but I can feel a slight numbness and throbing around my right eye like it's ready to come at me any time. I read that they generally start at about age 30 and last until age 50, but some of the posts contradict this. Good luck. Ron
