Like so many things with CH, the role of alcohol is not clear. There is general agreement here that alcohol triggers an attack when the person is in an active period--but, as with you, the picture is not consistent.
I've seen reports out of Europe that white wine doesn't seem to affect people as much as red; many people believe distilled spirts are worse than other forms of alcohol.
But it appears that we all find our own experience and guide our intake accordingly.
