OCD is a general term for "Obsessive Compuslive Disorder".
In simplistic terms it includes a broad range of "habits" such as alcohol and drug abuse, smoking, cleptomania, etc.
The basic theory behind psychoactive drug treatments for OCD is that a psychic change must occur for there to be a release from the mental state that supports the OC behavior. The psychoactive drug is used as a catalyist for the psychic change. The more profound the change, the more lasting the effects in treating OCD.
