Check out a book called "Pass It On -- The story of Bill Wilson and how the AA message reached the world." Intergroup should have a copy.
Read especially chapter 23, then chapter 21.
It details how Bill W. "experimented" with LSD in 1954, some 18 years into his sobriety and how it ended his life long depression.
IMHO, there is a big difference between medicine and drugs. My AA sponsor is fully on-board with my mushrooms and recent lsd use for CH. To thine own self be true. You know when you've crossed the line.
