Connie, I to am on 1,000mg of depakote and 100mg of topamax combo as a preventative and I know the headache you speak of. I think it is the preventatives holding the cluster down to a #4-5.
For me some times extra strengh excederin works on those but most times I take something that my neuro percribed for these mid grade headaches called Zyprexa, its an antipyscotic that they are just now finding works on these mid grade one. It works in about 35 min. ( alittle slow ) but these mid grade headaches go on all day with the sharp "cluster jabs" if I don't treat them. Good luck.
