I've suffered from bouts of cluster headaches for 13 years. I too did not do well with only Verapamil but when added nortryptaline I've had great success. I am currently having a bout which come about every 1 1/2 years for 2 months at a time. I take 240mg Verapamil ER once daily and 50mg nortyptaline 3 times daily. This greatly reduces the number of headaces to less than 1 per week and the pain is much less in the onces I do get. You should see if the doctor will prescribe this. The nortyptaline is also used as an anitdepressant.
