I have had CH since the age of 14 (now 34) I have had a different treatment for each bout of clusters. Prednisolone and Verapramil both worked - but only for a few days, then stopped working - the same with every treatment. You are so lucky to be taken into hospital during a cluster - I hadn't been able to get this sort of treatment, but I have now found a neurologist in London who wants to treat me. I have to contact her soon when the clusters get bad.
I have an extremely understanding mother, father, husband and boss. I know it sounds selfish but you have to worry about YOU during a cluster, not your family - if they can see the pain you are in then they will cope. My husband and my father both get very agitated and upset when they witness my cluster attacks, but my mother (practical female) stays calm and offers help when I need it - she understands that I just have to get through it!
