works similiar to Imitrex/ vasoconstrictor. I was put in the hospital to have DHE administered IV. because it was pretty dangerous according to my old neur. I have also used it at home in a smaller dose but it was not effective for me in small doses. Plus it has more side effects than Imitrex. It has been around for a long time. I know someone that was on it and is worked good for her. good luck. Oh, side effects are slow heart rate, nausea, itching, edema. nancy c
