I'm showing my age and stupidity, I guess. The phrase "real white" wasn't meant as a racist joke by me. It was not my shining hour either. I can see that. It's an obscure old term which was at one time used as anything but derogatory. Why I didn't consider others puzzles me as much as it does Dennis and Ted.
I was making a very feeble and obscure jibe at what our language may possibly devolve into if we were too careful of one another ala some of the very appropriate remarks from Riccardo. Not funny it turns out!
One good thing here is that younger people and people with more interesting lives have taught this old dog to think. Just my using that phrase, shows that I still may some way to go. I don't consciously feel prejudice but I have to wonder about myself now.
I hope you can accept this apology, guys. I'm guilty of poor judgment.
