I think an increased awareness of clusters can only
be a good thing. I don't think there would be that
many types of headache that would match the correct
description of clusters. Especially if the appropriate
tests are run, like and MRI or CAT scan. There's
a recurring theme of what we clusterheads typically
experience. Of course there's individual variations,
like what drugs we each best respond to. But the
similarity of our experience is what always strikes
me on reading this message board. The pain being
like a poker through the head, the occurrence of
the headaches in bunches, the fact that we can set
a clock by when the headaches will come. On and
on.
I'm sure that with more awareness, the misdiagnoses
of clusters as OTHER types of headaches will diminish, more people
will be correctly diagnosed with cluster, and more
people will therefore be put on an appropriate drug
regimen. I think it will turn out that there are
way more cases of cluster in the general population
than was previously thought.
