I used to use Imitrex and it worked wonders for me. In about 20 minutes (or more) the headache would completely go away. I highly believe that this is due to the fact that imitrex slows down my entire body, allowing my mind to wander off and NOT think about the headache. The current mind/body dichotomy that is employed in current medical science makes us think that our mind is different from our body, and that when our body suffers, only somthing that effects the body can cure it. This, in my opinion and the opinion of researchers (some who I am reading right now for school), is false and very dangerous. The mind and the body are the same thing. If we have control over our minds, we can control our bodies. Imitrex allows me to take my mind off the migraine, allowing it to dissipate.
Unfortunately, my insurance company will not help me AT ALL anymore with the Imitrex payments as they deem it unncessary and TOO expensive (bastards). Yet, they allow me a whole lot of Stadol, which is an opiate (but it's cheaper). Logic? $. Period. The combo of Stadol AND Imitrex is the best thing that I have found to date. One or two nasal squirts of Stadol combined with a third of an injection of Imitrex knocks 'em out cold. Stadol REALLY allows my mind to wander...
Take it easy
