My family doctor at age 16 told me that he didn't know what was wrong and continued to prescribe pain killer after pain killer.
After a couple years of this bullshit he referred me to a neurologist who told me that I had a neuro-vascular headache(no name).
He had me try beta blockers and other stuff that didn't work.
A friend of the family who gets migraines had me see her doctor.
He gave me meds for migraines which, of course, didn't work either.
A few more docs later and years of suffering with not only the pain but drug dependacy, I went to an osteopath who finally diagnosed me as having clusters.
I read about them and had basically diagnosed myself years before.
She assured me that was what I was suffering from. I was 29.
So, to answer your question, I was never told I had migraines.
They didn't know what the fuck was wrong with me.
For 13 years I was a guinea pig for the pharmaceutical companies and their peddlers.
