I believe the theory is that when you take the drugs, particularly the vasoconstictive ones like ergots, O2 & imitrex, as the drugs wear off the blood vessels expanding back to their original size (rebounding) can cause some pain. I've only experienced it in trying to wean myself off of verapimil. If I stop too quickly, the blood pressure returning to it's origianl pressure or even overshooting a little causes a feeling like the HAs want to return. I can usually handle these with ibuprofin. They are not as bad as the real deal CH.
