I glance and catch some shadowy figure in the corner of my eye. It catches my attention....lacking form or resolution...and then is gone...whatever it is...a bad feeling begins to churn in my gut.
Fear...hatred...guilt...revenge...spite...basically fear.
One of these Christmases... I just might heed Marley's warning...recognize the familar clank of his chains that echo with each of my own footsteps.
Then again.... I might not give up my resentments and justifiable hatreds until that Ghost of Christmas Future brushes the snowbank from my tombstone.
We'll see.
