The only painkiller that helps are the sumatriptanes. Some reduction of pain/frequency is usually obtained by anti-inflamm., f.ex. feldene, taken weeks at a time. I agree with Ueli, it's either a "venous" inflammation (I clearly feel the blood vessels in my temple hurting), or the trigger maybe spinal arthritis in your neck spine, which may be relieved by anti-inflamm.
