I have been suffering from cluster headaches for the last eight years or so. They first started at night after i went to sleep. I would awake with a severe pain in my left eye. It would just throb. I tried everything to stop them. I would put my head under the faucet in the bathtub, and run cold water over my head until it was about frozen. This didn't help much but i was willing to try anything. I had a cat scan to see if it was a tumor or something else. Nothing there. I went to my family doctor and explained it to him. He said his mother suffered from them and he prescribed the drug Elivil to me. 50mg a day. This stopped my headaches completely. This was in 1997. Three pain free years have passed without a single headache, until now. They have come back. My doctor increased my Elivil up to 75mg a day but im still having them.Thank God for Imitrex and insurance. I thought i had it beat.
