In Reply to: Question for chronics using verapamil and lithium posted by Anne on January 04, 2001 at 07:25:03:

1) Has the combination been effective for a long time?
We are all different, but only few people reports a lack of effectiveness about Verapamil (after some years)

2) Has it been completely effective or partially effective?
Again, we are all different. May be both, in my case, partially

3) What dosages have been effective and has it been necessary to increase them as time goes on?
Verapamil goes from 120 to 960 per day (sic!). The average dosage may be around 360
Sorry do not know for lithium (but remember that this med is not to be taken for long time, despite the fact many do)

4) Has anyone lowered or stopped the medication to see if the condition has improved since starting on it?
Some did so, generally with good effects

If so, what happened? If the CH returned, did the medication work again when restarted?
Normally the beast is not so bastard to avoid new good work:-) Seriously, yes I think so.

But, in my opinion, (you stated that your hubby has taken the single meds before, with no effects) this is a natural remission, not a chemical remission (MY OPINION). I will try to low slowly the doses to zero.

Ciao and PFNAD to your hubby
