Steve, I've been on 240 mg of verapamil daily for over 4 years. This has really brought my ch under control. I have not had any bad side effects from this blood thinning medication. I have heard from people on this site who are using 480 mg and even 960 with little or no side effects. Before I used this pill my episodes would last 3-4 weeks with 3-6 ch a day with brief remissions of 2-3 months. Now my attacks last less than 2 weeks, I usually only suffer 2 ch a day one in the middle of the night and a corresponding one during the day (usually almost 12 hours to the minute apart)and my last remission was almost a year. It has definitely worked at lessening the time and amount of ch I receive, while increasing remission times. One other note for you, I have tried to stop taking this medication and my ch returned within one to two days (worse than ever). Looks like the best for me is to stay on it perhaps for the rest of my life. Someone off the page advised me to try to see if my Dr. will raise the dosage to the 480 mark and see if that puts me into a more permanent remission. I have an appointment coming up and I am going to discuss this with the doc.
