The answer to your question depends on where you live. If you live in the US, mushrooms are illegal. The spores that produce the mushrooms however, are not (except for in California) and can be purchased through several suppliers via the internet. This means that you would have to grow your own supply. I have provided you a link to a recent post that Pinky posted that contains lots of great information.
