Julian, several of the effective drugs used for CH were first developed for other medical conditions. It's a not unusual experience to find cross over applications.
This med you asked about is, for example, often used to help ease chronic pain conditions. There is new fascinating evidence that some meds used to reduce cholesterol also reduce the risk of all forms of dementia AND may reduce the risk of heart disease. There is much more to medicine that what you read in the handout!
Check the meds recommendations at: www.headachedrugs.com. You'll find a more extensive list of drugs both to treat attacks and to use for prevention.
