Hope your doc is working to find a medication to reduce the frequency and severity of attacks.
While I am not aware of any problems from the long term use of Imitrex there are increasing reports about the potential for triptans (this class of medication) to induce rebound headaches with frequent use. Only experience will tell whether you are one of the folks vulnerable.
An unhappy dilemma!
