There are MUCH better meds for him to take daily. Ones that don't try and hide the pain but actually prevent attacks from coming (unfortunately, not all of them). Verapamil is a very sucessful one for many. Sansert is another. There is a bunch of information under the "medical info" button to the left of the board on meds. Be sure to check out the possible side effects of any drugs. Sansert has to be taken a "holiday" from every 6 months. Prednisone... well, I'll let Pinky or Derek tell you about those.
No. It is possible for them to last longer then 2-3 months. It's not common, but some of us went from episodic to chronic (chronic meaning no remission of more then 2 weeks long within a year's time). Sorry. But it's true.
