I have read of a supposed but unconfirmed link.
I know altitude is a definate trigger, but your statement that it triggered a cycle is the first I had heard. In fact, I was told that it would NOT trigger a cycle by a previous doc. I was however told to do a cafergot (which I no longer take) 1 Hour prior to flight, and another midway if longer than 2 hours.
