5HTP is 5-hydroxytrypophan. It is a precursor to 5-hydroxytriptamine which is serotonin. Serotonin (5-HT) is the neurotransmiter which regulates blood vessle dialation. Visit the OUCH Library and read some of the many article on serotonin.
I'm also in contact with a doctor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University. His group studies hallucinogenics and serotonin. Strong connection there which may explain the shroom treatments success.
