Jeff,

i too am a 20-year veteran of daily cannabis use. first CH bout august 1998. i'm not an alcohol aficionado - just don't like the taste. but i'm not a fascist - i'll bend the elbow when the right situation arises. bottom line is i don't miss alcohol due to the CH trigger threat ... but i would miss Mary Jane.

that said ... i do think boo's (not booze ) a trigger. but i think it's repressible.

i'm a water drinker - for the CH relief - and i've noticed that if i drink a slug of h2o with every hit, the mj-CH trigger response is suppressed. that's logical to me. it occurred to me that a perennial symptom of hemp indulgence is the well-known "cottonmouth" ... which suggests a capacity to dehydrate. ergo - since hydration suppresses my CH and pot suppresses my hydration ... i drink water when i smoke.

now, i'm not proposing the use of the evil weed to ameliorate the CH (although some, like Barb D., have experienced CH relief from it) ... nor do i disagree with Linda B. - that it doesn't help CH (gawd, a triple negative!) ... i think it's like most of our sad suggestions here that work for some and not for others.

(thank goodness that here in california they only bust you for smoking something with a filter on it. )

yours is a timely post for me, Jeff, because just this weekend i became so angry at the 2-day-old shadow i couldn't seem to shake, that i actually "challenged" the CH ... "told" it i was going out - no matter what "it thought" ... and i went to a bar saturday and had 2 drinks (a veritable flood of liquor for me) ... and got pretty pasted (well, it was JD and water - and as they say, if alcohol is a crutch, JD is the wheelchair!). to my surprise, the shadow left that night and all the next day (had a whole sunday w/o CH)!! i thought for sure i'd pay the big price for my arrogance ... but - go figure.

pain freedom remains a human right - addictions notwithstanding
