Maybe have your "supporter" look at this website... especially detailed, gross, gorey, graphic descriptions of what CH is like. Maybe then he would be more understanding.
If that and a long talk don't do it, maybe he isn't the "supporter" you thought... and you might want to seriously consider his offer for you to move on.
