There are reports of suboccipital nerve blocks helping at least for a few weeks after the shot. It is not clear whether this is from a local effect or absorption of the steroid into the bloodstream. We know that oral and IV steroids work, right? Also suboccipital neuralgia can cause nasal fullness and tearing. Interesting!
