between the house and garden docs with their general knowledge and the specialists with their narrow probing.

General docs know basic stuff about a lot: blood pressure and glaucoma, appendicitis and broken ankles, strokes and viagra etc. etc.
Specialist know an impressive lot about a tiny field.

Both are human and hate to find something they have missed. So be a little gentle with your doc.

Then, too, a great many people still approach their doc as if he were God himself - expecting and DEMANDING cures, when there aren't any;
explanations, when there aren't any. Demanding medication they heard about, whether it applies to them or not.

No wonder docs are a bit careful.

Bobs doc said a true thing. Sure, educate your doc, but do it with the right stuff. Print out all the medical info that DJ put under his buttons. No hearsay evidence, cold facts.

But educate the patients too. hmmm, come to think of it, that's what this site and OUCH are for.

Walk in knowledge, annemarie
