24 hour pain meds?

Hey Guy's
I found out today that I have to have surgery followed by chemotherapy and e.d.radiation. They started me on 24 hour pain meds (morphine) and 24 hour Diazapam. I'm looking for long term effects of use of these. Any advice of does and don'ts. Thanks David
