Hi Char. Yes using to much Imitrex can give rebound headaches! I my self used to many Imitrex shots (6-12) a day and because of it I started getting a CH every two hours! My doc got me on Verapamil and it stop the cycle.
Get the doctor to give him a PREVENTIVE not just a ABORTVE med. Verapamil is a preventive and saved my life. Also I was getting high blood pressure from either to many CH or from using to much Imitrex.
Maybe if he has high blood pressure the doc will give him Verapamil? If not fight him, give him a copy ot the meds from CH.com and make him look at it.!!! I know its hard I had to do the same thing with primary care doc. Hope this helps...Suzy
