I use Imitrex as my first choice, but I generally try to save them for when I'm in work. At peak times in the cycle, I get anywhere from 4-7 attacks a day, and that's when the Imitrex goes quickly. (I'm like you, the side effects of using too much scares me enough that I won't use more than two, so, unfortunately, I just have to suffer through the rest of them.) So when I get one in the middle of the night, I'll go right for the oxygen. It's a matter of getting to it quick enough though. If I dont strap the mask on within a minute or two of the first twinge, the Oxygen won't work. Hope this helps.
