Verapamil has worked for me in the past but I found that every so often I needed to increase the daily dose to retain the beneficial effect. In the end I was up to 960mg per day although after a month or two the headaches returned and I eventually gave up on this treatment. Two main side effects - tiredness and constipation - neither was so severe as to cause me any significant problems. I was advised to get an ECG test a week or so after each increase in dosage.
