A long time ago there was a posting at the Harvard/Mass Gen Headache page by a european sufferer.
He used to get onto his bicycle at the first hint of watery eye and ride up a steep hill until he was exhausted. This, for him, would abort the pain before it started. Others have noted the benefits of heavy duty excercise when they feel the first twinge of the monster.
