i no longer allow my mom to ask how i'm doing when she calls on weekends. i told her ... if it's bad - i'll tell ya. if i don't say anything - they're ok. cuz every - and i mean every - time i say, think, intimate, or pronounce the dirty dragon to be "getting better" it resurges with a vengeance. it knows. it's intelligent. and, as you say, it may well be me.
interestingly enough, it seems to work in reverse, too. like, if i have a horrid day, and say so to someone, the next day is much much better. as if to make a liar out of me or something.
it's like having Ken Starr living in your head.
