I know how upset you must be. My daughter has asthma, and when she was your sons age, she didn't want me to know when she was having a attack. She would go wake her sisters up. She hated me fussing over her, and would get very angery when I did. She would talk to her friends about it but not me. She also did not like worring me.
I stoped nagging her and had her friends tell me when she was ill, and I never let her know they told. She was happier and so was I.
I get kind of upset when I have a bad shadow, there no real pain, but thinking and trying to answer questions can sometimes make me want to yell at the person asking me. I have learned not to do that. It took some training on my part not to get upset with people wanting to help me. This is the age they are starting to want to be independent also.
Are you right or wrong, there is no way of really knowing. When we had kids there was no manual that came with then. We just have to follow our heart and gut sometimes, and hope for the best.
There are some real good advice in the post below.
Good luck Mom!
