I just discovered the board and the site and am flabbergasted that such a site exists (and my flabbers are not THAT easily gasted, I'll have you know!)!!
What a delight to find a site where there are other people who have the same, or similar, headaches that I do.
For years, I had been misdiagnosed as having migranes until, just last year, I took part in a headache evaluation program at the Illinois Institute of Technology and got the news - you are a sinus-cluster headache sufferer!
Now that I know what they are, and now that I have found this site, I don't feel quite so alone when I have an attack.
Fortunately, after years of "just living with it" I have a doc who understands the condition and is helping me choose an effective treatment plan. With luck, the group here will be a great source of information as well.
Let's face it, I'm trained as a hypnotherapist and it's embarrassing to have to say to one's colleagues, "Sorry, I've got a headache," and get chided for not being able to alleviate the symptoms through self hypnosis. Self hypnosis is only marginally effective in dealing with an attack.
Hiccups, sure! A regular headache - no problem. A CH, dear goddess, pass the meds, the ice, a hot bath and an industrial-strength belt-sander modified as a full-back vibrator to help break up the muscle lock in the neck and on the side of my skull!
I'm looking forward to visiting this group often.
