DEPARTMENT OF NEUROLOGY -- UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
CLINICAL AND RESEARCH FACULTY

Deborah C. Mash, Ph.D.

Professor of Neurology and Molecular & Cellular Pharmacology
Director of Research, University of Miami Brain Endowment Bank

She is currently conducting clinical and preclinical studies on the
African rainforest alkaloid – Ibogaine – as a potential anti-cocaine medication. In addition, studies underway in her laboratory on whether the current epidemic of
"crack" cocaine abuse may lead to a new wave of Parkinson’s disease in aging cocaine addicts.

I read an article about how she had to lobby to get permission to do this because Ibogaine is a class 1 controlled substance with a olecular structure not a million miles away from LSD and Psilocybin. It is closely related to Serotonin. Who knows it might even work as well on CH and LSD and Psilocybin do. This brings me to my point - this Dr already has the clout to run a clinical trial on a controlled substance. This substance may potentially be able to treat CH. Shouldn't some CH patients take part in this clinical trial she is running - give that she already has permission!
