Hiya Ya'll: Here is some info on the Ford headache clinic that may help. The Ford clinic is here in Birmhingham and is a wonderful place where folks who suffer from Migraines or CH can get some REAL help and understanding. (for a change is stead of the typical BS) The do have a web page and here is the addy for ya in case your intrested. Dr.Ford sufferes from migraines and his wife is a nurse at the clinic w/ him. She suffers from CH so they both know full well the pain that comes w/ both these problems.
Ken and I went on Wed. March 7. It was an all day deal. The tests consist of EKG, EEG, and a new test called a thermogram, which shows the "hot spots" of the head and face. The doc. told us point blank that Depakote doesnt really do alot to prevent CH. He told us that most docs. are Ignorant when it comes to CH and the pain that comes w/ it!! (tell us something we dont know)LOL Dr. Ford told us that most people that suffer from CH are somewhat depressed due to the stess of never knowing when the Beast will strike again. That it would stress any one out not to have a life. Which we all know first hand from CH, NO one has a life due to the CH. So Ken is on Zoloft for that.
Ken had cluster while in his office when we were talking to him. He was given an Imitrex injection! With in 15 min. of the injection the Beast was gone. Dr. Ford was very surprised that he was not given the injections before. It was never offered so we didnt know it was out there till we found yall!! (Thanks!!)
That very much upset Dr. Ford. So we now have the injections, time released Depakote,Verapamil, and the Zoloft also!!
The clinic is for any one and every one who suffers from CH. The have folks for all over the world come to see them to get help. We go back in 3 weeks to see whats going on. Dr. Ford is willing to do what ever it takes to make sure folks find some releif! If the first treatment doesnt work hell try something eles till he finds what works for that person.
