Losing your job over CH depends on how much hassle you want to go through to save it. Next time you get hit you can always file for non-industrial disability. You'll probably need Dr. back-up to verify you can't work. You should be protected by ADA (American's with Disabilities Act). When you come back to work they can make it pretty uncomfortable for you. Try to get you to leave on your own. I've got an employee that's been off work for 9 months on NDI supposedly being treated for a drug/alcohol problem. In those 9 months he's been arrested for 3 DUIs, 1 drunk in public and 2 felony probation violations. I couldn't touch him because of ADA. They finally threw him in jail. Our company considers 5 days AWOL as auto resignation, so I finally got rid of him this week.
Good luck. It won't be fun.
