Dianna,

I use methoxyflurane with some of my patients. I am an Ambulance Officer with the N.S.W. Ambulance Service in Australia.

It can be a effective short term analgesic. However, there are VERY SERIOUS risks to your Kidneys relating to safe dosage limits. It is only effective for about 25. minutes. It then dissapears from your body and your pain will return. The world safety standard dosage is no more than 6ml per day and no more than 15ml per week. A single dose is 3 ml.

It used to be used as an anaesthetic in operating theatres. It is not used anymore due to patients developingg kidney damage. For this and other reasons, it is not available from outside the medical system.

Understandably, you want to have relief from pain; however, methoxyflurane would not suit you.

I'd be happy to provide you with further info.

Paul
