My husband is the sufferer here, but he refuses to sleep past 6 am on the week ends when he is in a cycle. This is his normal getting up time and if he sleeps later, he will be awaken with a headbanger. So far this cycle, we have gotten into a rountine of him taking an Amerge, Indocine, and 4 x-tra strength Tylenol at about 8:30 pm, and then I will give him a pain pill at about 11 pm, and have him put an ice pack on his neck. He is sleeping in the recliner, and so far, we have had a better cycle than normal. He also takes Depakote ER 2 times a day and uses Imitrix injections for the really bad ones. The Amerge close to bedtime seems to be letting him get more uninteruppted sleep. As much as 6 hours at a time. Now, of course this is not the Doc's direction for the all the meds, but it seems to be working so far. Guess I will have to explain where I got my md degree at his next visit!! LOL...wonder if he will believe at clusterheadaches.com??
