I recently ran across information on PKU, you know that test they do on newborn babies before they can leave the hospital?! where they prick the back of their heel.
Well, the diet they suggest adult PKU patients to follow looked eerily similar to the MAO diet I once had a copy of. They even mentioned that famous word "tyrosine."
Well, first, I really need a copy of the old MAO diet because I'm really in trouble here and can't remember.
Also, does anybody know why these two diets are so similar for these two widely different (apparently?) medical conditions??
I asked the RN on the PKU site, and she sort of blew me off so I guess next time I will sign my name with PhD after it to get some respect, ha ha.
