Hello Gary, sorry for your suffering. I know it all too well. If narcotics are what you have, I have found that they will only work [when the ch's are at their worst] as a preventative. I take them regularly; 4 to 6 hours apart. Once a bad ch starts, all you can hope for from them is cutting the pain a little. You must find someone who you can call on in the middle of the night for a ride to the hosp. There is no way I could drive in the middle of a bad ch. It would also help to have an arrangement with the doctor who is treating you, or you may get the "another drug user looking for a fix" routine from the hospital staff. Have been using depakote for a few weeks now. It has lessened the attacks as well as the severity; most of the time. It took about a week before I felt any benefit. It's not a lot of help, I still need to keep the narcotics around. Any help is welcome. Please stay calm. Try to remember that the series is finite.
