I stopped by to see my doc today and asked about splitting the 6mg. injection into two or three doses. The doctor said he saw no harm as long as I kept everything clean. I asked about transfering the Imitrex to Insulin syringes and he thought that was a better idea than trying to reuse the one that comes in the injector pack. I tried the 1/2cc size syringes and had no problems with the injections, but did find it hard to get the medication in the barrel and get the bubbles out. I think the 1cc syringe would be better suited for this. They only cost thirty cents or so each, and can be kept in a plastic bag or a fanny pouch or something. I didn't do a very good job of splitting mine equally the first time I tried, but the smaller portion aborted the headache that I used it for. I don't especially like needles, so being able to get it over with quickly is better for me. This method allows me to do this, and I can do it in the dark.
