OUCH's Legislative Committee is about to embark upon finding out what legal issues are causing problems with people and their insurance programs in treating CHs. Whether it is state laws or national laws and whether it's anything from private insurance companies to country-sponsored programs. After we find out what people are getting blocked by we will examine these problems and start a lobbying campaign to change the laws where appropriate. This effort is concerned with laws from any and every country. So, if you're having problems with getting what you need to take care of your CHs, find out what the law is blocking you and e-mail me at Jayacat2@aol.com with any pertinent information and problems. Help us to change the laws so they will suit you better. For example. Massachusetts has a law that only allows 2 months per year for open enrollment in a non-group plan. This means if a new employer doesn't offer insurance benefits and isn't in a group, there are only two months of the year that one can enroll in an insurance program. This is an issue to be looked into by us and if the law is really that cut and dry, we'll be lobbying to change it.

Ted
Legislative Committee Chairman
