Spring is here! I woke up before dawn and heard a racket. Geese were in flight over the house which is normal for here at this time of year, however, this sound was a bit different from those of the past. I cant explain the difference but it was different. Normally this time of year I get thousands of Cannada Geese migrating through the north east corridor. In years past the number is in the 3-4 thousand range and they come up on the lawn and around the pond. I have, in the past 14 years, seen only several Snow Geese among the Cannada Geese, however this year is a very special event! I looked out on my fields and where I thought there was snow I discovered (much to my amazement) almost 8 thousand Snow Geese! All standing shoulder to shoulder picking at the groud for the leftovers of last falls corn harvest. Amazing! Sue got a real treat to be ale to witness such a sight.

It is a bright and sunny day here and the days are getting lenger. It has been a very long winter here and in Syracuse, with the ~6" of snow that we got last night we are either near (within) a couple of inches, or over the all time recorded reccord of seasonal snowfall. Reccord is 192"
