Samantha, Donna and company,

I am sorry to hear of your losses over oxycontin. I may be a rarity, but I can report it seems to be a life-saver for me. I just had back surgery (laminectomy, fusion, and bone graft) - and the post-surgical pain was horriffic. I could not sleep, eat, concentrate due to the pain. I told my doctor, afraid he would totally discontinue all pain medication. Instead, he started me on Oxycontin, and the difference is like night and day. It is a real blessing to me, and will help with recovery more than I can say.

It is good to be "concerned" about pain meds of ANY kind, but for your report, please bear in mind that these medicines are here for a REASON, and when used for that reason, they are very very valuable. Abuse, however, is a different thing. But one should not advocate doing away with cars just because they can cause deaths - rather, one should be cautious and prudent and above all, RESPONSIBLE - with automobiles, AND prescription medications.

Hope my thoughts help in some way - good luck with your project and concerns!

Jeff
