Another theory is that clusters are caused by an inflammation in the cavernous sinus, which is an area behind the eyes, rather close to the nasal sinus. If that's true, antibiotics would help rather than hurt. I've taken antibiotics several times and never had them trigger a cluster or increased pain if I was already in a cluster.
