This doctor is obviously reciting dimly remembered "facts" from some course he took back in med school (in the fifties, I'm guessing) when he was probably functioning in the chronically sleep-deprived state common to medical students.
I don't know if there is even any point in e-mailing him to correct his misperceptions. He is convinced that he is a clusterhead, and it is not likely that a group of real clusterheads will change his mind. How many of us have medical degrees, after all?
